Last Monday I posted on a story that Rep. George Miller's office requested in December 2004 that the GAO investigate the $40 million shoveled to ABCTE, the phony teacher preparation outfit that was the brainchild of former US DOE Undersecretary, Gene Hickok. Rep. Miller's office got back to me today with an update on that initial request.
The GAO reported back that the ABCTE giveaway will be part of a larger investigation of other DOE funding complaints and issues. Rep. Miller's office was told by GAO to expect a final report early in 2006.
