From Iraq to the Inner City

Kathleen Madigan, champion of Internet teacher preparation and zero tolerance policies for incivility among minority school children, recently announced that her phony outfit for siphoning off federal education dollars, ABCTE, has teamed with Military.com to recruit GIs into teaching as they return to jobs that are now long gone, after doing two or three tours for Bush's Mission Unaccomplished.

Apparently Madigan, Hickok, and other converts to clamping down on the poor, see military training as entirely complementary to the other teacher skills gained by taking Internet tests. Remember that this bunch of hucksters was endorsed by Paige in ED's 2003 Report of Highly-Qualified Teachers (see this earlier post).

This from the May 17 press release of ABCTE:

Military.com members can prepare for their certification at home or on base using preparation materials available from a variety of sources. No college courses are required unless the certification candidate chooses to participate in them for preparation purposes. . . . "This is a new twist on the 'we want you' effort that military personnel are so familiar with," said American Board President Dr. Kathleen Madigan. "Now, it is America 's classrooms who need the knowledge, skills, and experience of Military.com members."
