OAKLAND (AP) - The Oakland Unified School District says it will revoke the operating license of a charter high school accused of tampering with grades and submitting false attendance records.
University Preparatory Charter Academy has until August 20th to submit new, verified records and repay at least $260,000 that state officials say it was overpaid.
The state has already invalidated Uprep's achievement test scores and the district says it engaged in fiscal mismanagement that may have been criminal.
The district started investigating after eight teachers submitted a 27-page report describing a culture of cheating and intimidation.
The president of Uprep's Board of Governors, Prentice Deadrick, did not return a phone call from The Associated Press.
