The Common Core: The New Black Hole Where Social Studies and Science and the Arts Disappeared

(Click page to enlarge and get sick)
Perhaps it should be called "Rotten to the Common Core."

Here is the Contents Page for the new national curriculum (unless you decide otherwise). And when the new national test is designed to go with the new national curriculum, no doubt it will be all about readin', writin', and 'rithmatic, too.

Here is Nick Anderson's WaPo story on the big release (why do I think of sewage treatment plants in New Jersey--at night?).

  1. Mr. Horn,

Work has already begun on common core science standards, with history and arts standards already planned after that. Gene Wilhoit described that work to a Kentucky audience just last week. As head of the Council of Chief State School Officers, he's one of the people making sure the work gets completed.

At least with this version they are being honest...since up to70% of a child's science test score can be attributed to READING.
