Despite outpourings (here and here) of student and faculty support and almost universal
acclaim for Mark Warren's teaching, scholarship, and service, the
silverbacks of Harvard's Graduate School of Corporate
Education decided last year they did not need another internationally-acclaimed scholar in the area of social justice education. Before Dr. Warren
moves on to where his valuable work is appreciated, however, he is hosting what looks like one terrific conference:
The
Community Organizing and School Reform Conference will bring community
organizers, education researchers, youth, educators, funders and other
stakeholders together to discuss the contributions of community
organizing to school improvement and equitable education policy. The
conference will provide an opportunity to discuss the role of community
organizing in the current policy context, learn about new research and
practice in the field, build relationships within and across stakeholder
groups, and build capacity to advance the work of community organizing
and school reform.

This is a good advocate and it's good to know that every school body structure and organization is willing to cooperate. Education is the most important in our society so it's just but right to seek government's help and support for it.
