DEAR GOVERNOR CUOMO

Once again I have to ask the question:

If I was to be rated on the results of the NYS Regents my kids took when I taught, would I be Dr. Effective or Mr. Hide me from kids?

I taught in 3 high schools, each with its own level of poverty. In fact one had NO poverty at all.

In the poorest school (in the Bronx), anywhere from @50%-90+% of my classes (depending on the track) passed the Regents exam. At one Westchester school (where there was NO tracking and a moderate level poverty) the numbers ranged from @70%-90+% passing. Finally at the school with ZERO poverty the range was @90+%-100%... Hmmmm. does anyone see a pattern here?

So Governor Cuomo? Did my effectiveness change or were there other FACTORS that once again show how ridiculous your plan is to rate teaching!

                                                  Sincerely, Dave
