As a spectator of the electoral circus, I have come to question the shared democratic values mantra. I have little in common with white supremacists, neo-Nazis and make America great againers. On the other hand, I am sickened by the avarice and greed of the well heeled clientele of hedge funders and derivative producers. I probably share some values with a select set of left wingers, but the characterization of Americans as residing under a canopy of democratic values is overwrought.
