How is the curriculum better than the traditional public school?? Charters ARE public schools funded with state and federal taxes that are privately owned and managed, which means they must follow the same rules, standards and mandates as the traditional public school. So if they are using the same standards they are in essence teaching the kids in the KIPP Charter and all Charters the same thing they are teaching in the traditional public school but with less oversight on how they manage their business and their money. There is also no elected school board which means you pay taxes to support them but you have no say in how they are run unless you have a student in the school. That is taxation without representation folks.
KIPP=Kids In Prison Programs. I see these kids on field trips and it is appalling how they are treated. They are made to walk in straight lines (no talking). They have strange hand signals? If they are in an amusement park, the kids have to stand/walk in straight lines, wait quietly in line ALL together with their "mentor"...no skipping, laughing or having fun at all. The "mentors" schedule bathroom breaks and all the kids must go into the restroom together with the "mentor" watching everything that they do before/after they come out of a stall. The children are spoken to harshly. I don't know why any parent would want that for their child? It's modern day slavery.
